N.B: All selected candidates in the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Bachelor of Dental Surgery are subjected to the Clinical Aptitude Test exam (CAT) and any other program may administer such entry exam.
- Student profile
Prospective students who seek admission into the College of Medicine and Health Sciences are required to have successfully completed secondary school education with an advanced level certificate in the following subject combinations:
Physics- Chemistry- Biology (PCB), Mathematics-Chemistry- Biology (MCB) Biology Chemistry- Geography (BCG) and obtain 2 Principal passes with a minimum of C in Biology (core subject) and in Chemistry (core subject). In addition to the above grades, applicants are required to write an entry examination.
- Foreign qualifications
Applicants who hold foreign qualifications are required to obtain equivalence certificates from the relevant Rwandan Authority. Currently we have National Examination and Schools Inspection Authority (NESA) for the Secondary Certificates equivalence and Higher Education Council (HEC) for Ordinary and Higher degrees for the equivalence of their degree certificates.
- Credit transfer/exemption (Midway Admissions);
Students from comparable programmes may be accepted on a credit transfer basis as long as the number of credits to be transferred is not more than 50% of the total size of the programme.
Requirements for credit transfer/exemption
The applicant must have attained the pass mark in the subjects to be considered for credit transfer/ exemption from a recognised institution.
The applicant must have passed the final examinations for the year in which the subject to be exempted was examined.
The following conditions should be met in seeking an exemption for a particular subject:
A formal application letter with relevant academic transcript should be lodged with the Dean of School.
The applicant must have the recommendation letter from the institution where she/he was studying.
The application should include justification and documentary support for the exemption to be considered.
The applicant may be required to sit an exemption examination.
